The Toymaker is a malevolent musical about an evil toymaker and the havoc he wreaks with his destructive toys. When his menacing plans touch too close to home, a group of brave children decide enough is enough and take matters into their own hands. Exploring family relationships and violence through a riveting and bold story, this production promises to be a theatrical feast for the eyes and ears.

Development of The Toymaker began in June 2006 supported by the Royal Exchange and Arts Council North West. A work-in-progress performance was held on Thursday 15th June at the Royal Exchange Studio Theatre, Manchester. This performance was attended by children from a local school alongside Programmers and Arts Professionals.

We will continue developing The Toymaker throughout 2008/9 thanks to the generous support of Arts Council North West, prior to its premiere in 2010. If you are a theatre programmer and are interested in this production, please do not hesitate to contact us.
